Frequently Asked Questions

What ages do you see?

I provide a secure meeting link where we will meet one on one to address any speech and language goals. I will use virtual games, interactive apps, digital flashcards, and many more amenities to help you or your loved one succeed in their speech and language journey.

My child sees a speech pathologist at school, can we see you too?

Yes! Speech and language in the academic setting can be very different than private practice. Speech and language services in the schools are aimed at providing services to aid in the academic impact of communication disorders. Private speech therapy can address a broader range of speech and language concerns, including those that are unrelated to academics.

What payment types do you accept?

Currently, I am accepting Minnesota MA (Medical Assistance) and Medicare. I am working at adding more insurance companies to this list and will update when this changes!

I also am accepting private pay. This includes all major debit/credit cards, HSA, and HFA cards.

I will provide a superbill, to any client upon request, in order for you to submit it for possible reimbursement to your insurance company. Please check with your health insurance regarding superbills, speech and language benefits, out of network coverage, teletherapy, etc.

I would like to know more, now what?

Please send me an email at info@ascentslt.com to schedule a free consult. During this 15 minute consult we will discuss your concerns, case history, communication goals, and develop a plan personalized just for you or your loved one.

How does speech and language therapy work online?

There are many studies that have shown teletherapy to be equally as effective as in-person therapy. In fact, carryover of newly acquired skills have been speculated to be faster because the client is learning the new skills in a familiar environment.

For children 3 and under: in this age range, parent coaching is the primary service model. Parent/caregivers are present and fully engaged in child’s sessions.

For children 4-6: this age group has many variables. While some children are independent enough to remain focused with little parental assistance, some may still need the support of an adult to help facilitate tasks.

For children 6+: Parents/guardians should remain within hearing distance of child’s speech session to assist with any technical difficulties that could possibly arise.
